Music and Lyrics

No, this is not about the romantic comedy with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. I read an article today that had some interesting facts about the power of music in the lives of teenagers.

The University of Pittsburgh recenty did a study where they graded the sexual aggressiveness of the lyrics of songs by popular artists on the US Billboard charts. The lyrics were graded from the least to the most sexually degrading. They then asked 711 students aged 15 to 16 at three local high schools about their music preferences and their sexual behaviour.

Overall, 220 - 31 percent - of all the surveyed teens had had intercourse. That is a discouraging statistic considering that the students they interviewd are all in the Freshman/Sophomore range - most not even able to drive yet. But the rate of sexual activity between students who listen to sexually aggressive music was more than double the rate of those who don't. Let me break this down for you: Students who listen to music that is sexually suggestive are more than twice as likely to engage in sexual activity.

The entertainment we consume has an affect on our hearts, and when our hearts are affected so are our actions. What are you doing to your heart?

Dude. I really agree man. I really don't listen to sexually aggressive music myself because that type of lyrical content really doesn't fit into the genre's I choose to listen to. and since I am a dude listening to that style of music would make it 20 times more difficult as a struggle with lust.
but yeah I find myself when I am angry listening to this band called Ceremony. and I really shouldn't cause everything becomes so negative. I won't lie it feels good to Rage sometimes but that isn't always right.
But I can tell a difference when I am angry and I am listening to ceremony as opposed to listening to something positive.

Dude lets hang out..I know you are a busy bee all the time. but seriously..

I am serious.
